Beyond Jorsale we cross a high bridge then climb steeply up to Namche Bazaar, a climb of about two hours. On this climb you need to go very slowly and to drink a lot. But you must also admire the view of the peaks of Thaserku, Kusumkhangaru, Khongde among others.

On the trail we pass several mani walls, then a couple of chortens on the way to Pangboche. The Pangboche Gompa is the oldest in the Khumbu area. When the trail to Pheriche crosses a small hill you can see not only the village, but Island Peak, one of Nepal's most famous trekking peaks.

Day 08: Pheriche. Rest day for acclimatization. The best way to acclimatize is to go high and sleep low, so we will climb towards Mhera Peak, at 5200m, from where there is a spectacular view of Nupse, Iland peak, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Thamaserku, Khangtenga, Tawache Peak, Cholatse and Lobuche Peak.

We will eat lunch here before climbing to the small black hill of Kala Pattar which provides the best view of Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse. If the weather is good we will do the climb late in the day to watch the sun set on Everest. We overnight at Gorak Shep (5150m).
